sata drivers during install

I am attempting to install Vista onto a second partition of my main harddrive.
During the install process (running through XP), I am told that I need to load drivers for my harddrive or it will not work. I downloaded the newest SATA drivers for my harddrive (SI3112 v.1.0.56.1), and have put them in the root directory of a USB flashdrive that I have. Now, when I try to click the load drivers button, the installation says:
"No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click Retry."
I'm fairly sure my drivers should work, but just to double check, here are the files that I am placing on the flashdrive:
si3112r.cat Si3112r.inf Si3112r.sys SiiSupp.vxd SilSupp.cpl SiWinAcc.sys TxtSetup.oem readme.txt
Has anyone had any similar problems? Is it maybe my stupidity coming into play? Have I missed something important?

Are those controller drivers? Drives don't require drivers unless your running a RAID array I think.. but I could be wrong.
I've read elsewhere in here that Sil do not have a Vista driver as of yet...

The SATA / RAID controller requires drivers, regardless of whether the drives are in a RAID configuration. The drives themselves rarely - if ever - require additional drivers.

I'm unsure as to what Windows Vista setup requires as far as SATA/RAID drivers are concerned. Drivers that work after installing Vista may not work during setup.
On another note, I've had trouble on a few systems when trying to "upgrade" from Windows XP. The only luck I've had is with a clean install.

I have the same SATA/Raid Controller and I had to delete the txtsetup.oem file and supply the onboard IDE drivers in order to get setup to complete. Vista beta 2 5384 is running on partition 2 (D:) and XP Pro is running on partition 1 (C:) of the si 3112 controller in a Raid 0 built with 2 200 GB Maxtor SATA Drives. I also got it to install on the first ide drive Booting from the DVD and loading the IDE Drivers, the install would fail untill I loaded the ide drivers. Im not sure why but the IDE Drivers are the key here. Hope this helps. Bob

You can install the driver by pressing Shift-F10 when you're in the select HD windows, it will open a "DOS" box, go on your USB key, and type: drvload Si3112r.inf It will load your SATA driver, even if Windows was not able to see it before. Then click the Refresh button and you can proceed with the rest on the setup.

That worked fine on the Gigabyte GA7NNXP board tonight, thank you. One

added factor for Gigabyte, there are two drivers on the website 1.0.0.52 and 1.0.0.50 Naturally I chose 52 but what is not obvious is that 52 is the non raid driver, si3112.inf, and version 50 contains si3112r.inf You do need to click refresh as indicated. Thanks again Christophe

I have the same Silicon Image raid controller on a Gigabyte SINXP1394 mobo. Keep in mind that for one HD on sata you need the ,,base'' driver. When you connect more then one HD then you need the 3112r driver regardless of the fact that you don't have a raid of any kind installed. Kind regards, Tony Thijs Oriolus
